Masked Curlytail- Leiocephalus personatus actites (juvenile)
I believe this is a juvenile of the Hispaniolan Masked Curlytail- Leiocephalus personatus actites. These are fairly large and they come in a variety of colours, with varying amounts of green on their legs. They are called curlytails because of the way they carry their tails about. There are several species and sub-species found in the Dominican Republic. This one was photographed at the Casa Marina Reef resort in Sosua, north Dom. Rep. They are really pretty and have a crest running down their backs. Unfortunately, this one has lost his tail! Back to top
