Visions in Putty 8 - Entelodont

The 1list sculpting yahoo group regularly runs sculpting projects for its members. The first one I entered was on the subject of "things that go bump in the night". My concept is that an ogre has sneaked his pet piggie (actually based on a real prehistoric creature called an entelodont, or killer pig) into his room and the creature misses his master, who has gone off to the bar for a drink and some wenching. Therefore the piggie has taken to repeatedly charging the locked door grunting and making a right old racket until his master returns. Obviously with such a vicious sounding animal, no one else dares to enter to room to see whats going on!

Step 1- concept

I based the entelodont off the 3D animations from BBC1's "Walking with Beasts" documentary. The first thing I did was to sketch out the overall design and work out what structure the armature would need. As I wanted to enter the casting option I was limited by the size allowed for this process. I therefore decided to divide the model into two sections, the body and the head, so that they could be cast separately. Below is the sketch I made of the overall look and below, the armature.
